Railway Men Investigate Supposed Attempt to Dynamite Train Taken to the office of Chief of Police Gravenor in Camden yesterday John Daly, of 219 Elm street, who says he saw a man acting suspiciously about the elevated tracks of the West Jersey and Seashore Railroad at Newton avenue and Carteret street Wednesday night after which a 4-inch tunnel, 8 feet long was found alongside one of the girders, declared he had made no mistake. Railroad officials were inclined to scout the idea that an attempt had been made to plant some dynamite to blow up the powder train that passes through Camden to Communipaw every night, but Daly was positive that he had seen the mysterious individual at work and that he carried away with him a bundle of cylindrical objects wrapped in cloth. The railroad men who made a thorough investigation yesterday said the hole might have been caused by recent rains, although an official said it might also have been bored by some tool. The railroad is being closely guarded by special officers of the company who took charge after a squad of the Second Regiment, N. G. N. J., had spent the night in vigil.
