Reckless Driver Held After Punching Cop A Philadelphia motorist was arrested last night after he forced Policeman Earl Wright's car onto the sidewalk and punched him on the chin. He is Jacob H. Trout, 39, of 1626 Wilmington street, Philadelphia. He was released in $500 bail for hearing Thursday night on charges of reckless driving and assault and battery on an officer. According to Wright, who was off duty, Trout was driving recklessly at Sixth and Benson streets where he forced Wright to drive over the curb to avoid a collision. He continued to Seventh and Market streets where he was forced to stop for a traffic light. Wright overtook him. Both men got out of their cars and Wright was about to arrest Trout when the latter struck the officer, jumped into his car and drove away again. Wright chased him to the bridge where he caught him.
