Four men and a woman, among them 28-year-old Walter Koscianski of 966 Bulson Street, were fined $25 each in Camden police court in June 1933 after pleading guilty to disorderly conduct while denying they had been disorderly — a case arising from a motorcycle policeman's arrest of the five at Tenth and Bulson Streets.
Three men who pleaded guilty to stealing gas or electricity from Public Service were sentenced to 30 days in county jail. Among them: John Waldner of 814 North 34th Street, who tapped the main gas line while his wife was ill and their meter was shut off for nonpayment.
Wharton Lafayette, 27, of 401 North Third Street, told Police Judge Pancoast he was leaving for North Jersey to start working, and received a suspended sentence on a disorderly conduct charge as a parting gift.
Police Judge Pancoast rebuked Patrolman Charles Smith for altering a complaint and warrant, striking a youth's name from the record, and found the two remaining defendants not guilty.
