CAMDEN'S HEAT VICTIMS
A Woman Found Dead in Bed and Several Persons Prostrated.
The heat in Camden yesterday killed Mrs. Kate McAllister, 29 years old, of 587 Clinton street, and prostrated Charles Thompson, 60 years old, of 503 Arch street; James Peterson, of 927 Kaighn's avenue, and Stewart Bakely, of Third and Cherry streets.
Mrs. McAllister had complained of the heat for three days, and when she retired on Tuesday night she felt quite ill. Her husband awoke at 2 o'clock yesterday morning and found her dead in bed by his side.
Charles Thompson, who is an eccentric character, formerly known as "the Mayor," started from his home for a walk shortly before noon and fell exhausted to the pavement in front of the County Court House not a square away. He was removed to his home, and is in a serious condition.
