ITALIAN IS HELD ON GRAVE CHARGE
On suspicion of abusing and maltreating Elsie Staley, a girl under 16 years of age, who lives with her stepfather on Federal street above Eighteenth, Nicholas Small, an Italian, was taken into custody yesterday afternoon by Special Troncone. Small will be given a hearing in police court tomorrow.
Elsie Staley is the plump and pretty girl who so enamored William May, a young Sioux Indian living in East Camden, that on last Thanksgiving Day when she refused to marry him he attempted suicide by stabbing himself in the left breast with a pair of scissors.
