CHASE FOR CRAP-SHOOTERS
Players of the Seductive "Come Seven" Game Rounded Up in Camden
A squad of policemen under command of Captain Stanley made a raid yesterday on crap shooters along Camden's river front and captured thirteen prisoners. They started in at Elm street, but a scout gave the crap shooters a tip and they escaped.
The lumber yards at the foot of Arch street were next visited. The raid proved more successful, as eleven prisoners between the ages of 16 and 24 years were captured. They were loaded in a patrol wagon and sent to the City Hall.
At Second and Clinton streets two more alleged crap shooters were taken into custody. The squad next proceeded to the old base ball grounds at Second and Pine streets, where a dozen games were in progress. One of the policemen accidentally discharged his revolver and all the crap shooters escaped.
No better success was met with at Second and Chestnut streets, and then Captain Stanley gave up the chase for the day.
