The Public Library Committee of City Council appropriated $500 last night to the Free Library Association for the purchase of new books.
Saloonkeeper William F. Sands, of Haddon avenue and Line street, was fined $10.75 by Recorder Nowrey yesterday for using abusive language to Police Captain Stanley.
Free rural mail delivery in Camden county has received the approval of Colonel M. W. Sawyer, special agent of the general postoffice, and, it is said, he has recommended John W. Cox, of Merchantville, as the carrier.
Thomas E. Mason, of 507 Arch street, died yesterday morning of cancer of the throat. He was 83 years of age and some years ago was a policeman under Mayor Budd, but for twenty-five years has been a private watchman on Cooper street.
Elizabeth Haines, white, aged 31 years, was married to Burrell Bland, colored, aged 61 years, by Justice Colding, of Camden, on Tuesday night. The bride gave her residence as Philadelphia, while the groom said he had conducted a small farm near Woodbury for many years. Neither had been married before.
