Gloria C. Loprete

Gloria LoPrete was born Gloria Troiano. She learned to bake fresh bread and rolls by hand while working alongside her father, who ran the Unique Bakery at 913 South 3rd Street in South Camden for many years. She later married Donato LoPrete, and together they founded the Erlton Italian Bakery in what was then Delaware Township (now Cherry Hill), New Jersey.

In 1966, the bakery relocated to the corner of Marlton Avenue and Berkley Street in Camden, where it has remained ever since. For decades, East Camden residents have enjoyed the aroma of fresh bread coming from the family‑owned and family‑operated shop. Sons Pete and Lou—who quite literally grew up in the bakery—run the business today, with help from the next generation as well. Gloria continued working at the bakery until illness forced her to stop in 2003.

Gloria LoPrete passed away on August 8, 2004.
