Marlton Avenue
Marlton Avenue begins at Federal Street and effectively serves as an extension of State Street, which runs east from the Delaware River, crossing the Cooper River and the Pavonia railroad yards to Federal Street. Marlton Avenue then continues eastward to the city limits at Highland Avenue. It is one of the five major streets in East Camden, along with Westfield Avenue, Twenty-Seventh Street, Baird Boulevard, and Federal Street.
The intersection of Marlton Avenue and Federal Street has been prominent for decades, hosting various businesses such as a saloon, a car dealership, a 7-11 convenience store, a fast-food restaurant, and a laundromat. In 2009, the Thomas H. Dudley School was built on the southeast corner of this intersection, replacing the previous school of the same name, which was located on North 23rd Street between High Street and Federal Street.
